Artist Statement
I believe that theatre is an essential key to combating an age of indifference. The nature of the medium of live theatre requires that the audience and the theatre-makers are partners in creating the world and story being performed. As artists, we engage the audience, and the audience engages us. We have a responsibility to tell stories that matter, that speak to our communities, and that take risks. It’s terrifying to care. It makes us vulnerable, but that vulnerability is essential to building empathy and understanding. I believe in engaging with our communities, caring about the stories we tell, and taking risks by being vulnerable and telling the truth.
